1951–2026
75 years of the Wallbergbahn
On 20 April, 75 years ago, the Wallbergbahn began operating after just nine months of construction and has been an integral part of the region around Lake Tegernsee ever since. We are marking this anniversary with a range of activities as part of themed months running throughout the year, as well as with a selection of anniversary products.
An overview of the themed months
July: The Fascination of Mountain Sports

July: The Fascination of Mountain Sports
Running, flying, outdoor activities in the mountains
The mountains are a paradise for a wide range of outdoor activities – catering to all tastes. That’s why people love to meet up at the Wallberg to get active.
The Wallberg is a popular meeting place for paragliders. We’ll be showcasing the many facets of this sport in July.
If you’d like to give it a go yourself, there’s a tandem jump to be won in July.
Mountain running will also feature. We’re looking forward to a lively turnout at our ‘open mountain run’, with individual runners, club teams, groups of friends and more. Click here to register.
August: Tradition and customs

August: Tradition and customs
Music, dance, enjoyment
Little white and blue clouds in the sky, views of the mountains and the picture-perfect Bavarian countryside – the Wallberg offers you the perfect backdrop for living tradition and authentic customs.
That’s exactly what we’d like to celebrate with you in August. Together with the D’Wallbergers and other local music groups, the month is all about one thing: enjoyment! Look forward to atmospheric music, Bavarian cosiness and unforgettable moments amidst a unique mountain backdrop.

September: From & with nature

September: From & with nature
Alpine farming – in harmony with nature
The alpine pastures demonstrate how flora, fauna and people have been harmoniously interconnected for centuries. Amidst flowering meadows, crisp mountain air and a diverse array of wildlife, traditional alpine farming is kept alive.
The careful stewardship of the landscape by the alpine farmers creates habitats for many plants and animals, whilst at the same time preserving the mountains’ unique cultural landscape. Up here, it’s still all about living in harmony – between nature, people and the rhythms of the seasons.
Find out more in September about how alpine farming is practised on the Wallberg.
We’re also planning more exciting activities for the rest of the year. Further details will follow shortly. So do pop back to this page from time to time!
- October: Giving thanks & taking time to reflect – the mountain as a place of strength
- December: Advent on the mountain – winter delights & moments of reflection
The past few months:
April: A Journey Through Time

April: A Journey Through Time
Prices just like back then. Moments just like in the old days.
To kick off our anniversary year, we’re taking a trip back in time.
At the weekend of 18 & 19 April, we’ll be running at “prices just like back then”
On these days, adults pay €5.00 for a return ticket and children €3.00 – in line with 1950s prices.
On this weekend, there will be no single-journey tickets for either the ascent or descent.
The discounted tickets are valid only on 18 & 19 April 2026.
The following weekend, 25 & 26 April, our guests who turn up in period hiking attire will receive a discount on the return journey.
In addition, the mountain and valley stations will be decorated with memorabilia from the cable car’s early years.
May: For a good cause

May: For a good cause
You cycle. We donate.
In May, our anniversary year will be all about social commitment. Under the slogan ‘Ride with us for a good cause’ , we will donate 75 cents for every ascent and descent to up to four charitable organisations in the Tegernsee Valley.
Clubs and organisations can apply for the donation by emailing info@wallbergbahn.de. The deadline for applications is 30 April 2026.
Applications do not need to follow a specific format; they simply need to include a brief overview of the organisation’s work and how the donation is intended to be used.
June: Family time in the mountains

Activities for families and children
In June, the focus is on families. With a range of activities, we’d particularly like to invite our younger guests to join in the celebrations.
We’re kicking things off on 1 June with a free admission day for children.
Throughout June, a treasure hunt will be set up on the hill for families and children to enjoy.
On the morning of 21 June, the Miesbach rescue dog unit will be visiting us with their dogs, and on 27 June, falconer Paul Klima will be joining us.
