VDS action day for people with disabilities

Sunday, 3 May 2026, is the day of action for people with disabilities.

We are taking part in the day of action and transporting people with disabilities from 60 GdB, with ID, free of charge.
An accompanying person will also be transported free of charge if they are registered on the disability card.

Please note: People who are unable to board the mountain railway alone due to their disability require an accompanying person to help them.

The campaign was initiated by the Verband Deutscher Seilbahnen und Schlepplifte e.V. (VDS). In addition to the Wallbergbahn, other cable cars are also taking part in the campaign. You can find a corresponding list at www.seilbahnen.de/

The day of action is based on 5 May - the European Day of Protest for the Equality of People with Disabilities: Initiated in 1992 to draw attention to barriers and to stand up for self-determination. Actions such as demonstrations or local information events are typical, often with the support of organisations such as Aktion Mensch.

Information on accessibility
Unfortunately, our cable car is not barrier-free.

In the valley station, the ticket office and mountain railway are accessible, but not the sanitary facilities.

It is possible to avoid the stairs in the valley station by boarding the cable car at the exit of the building. However, tickets must be purchased in advance at the ticket office.

When boarding the gondola, it is possible to stop briefly, but the guest must either be able to stand for a short time or be carried into the gondola by an escort. Wheelchairs and walking frames must be foldable in order to fit into the gondola.

At the top station there are 17 unavoidable steps leading away from the cable car. This means that the restaurant, the sanitary facilities and the exit to the viewing point and the hiking trails are not barrier-free.
Our disabled guests must be able to climb these steps. There is a handrail to hold on to and support yourself.
