The cattle drive down from the Wallberg

3 October / 10.00 am at the top station

The alpine pasture season at Wallberg traditionally ends with a small cattle drive on 3 October. Spectators are very welcome.

It starts at 10 am at the mountain station.
So, if you’re taking the cable car up, set off from the valley at around 9.30 am. The cable car journey takes about 15 minutes. You can find information about our opening hours here.

The cattle drive marks the end of the cows’ summer on the alpine pastures: they are brought back down from the alpine pastures to the farm in the valley by their farmers. On the Wallberg, this traditional custom is still observed in a very authentic way and on a small, family-oriented scale. It cannot therefore be compared to the large, elaborately decorated cattle drives, such as those found in the Allgäu, for example.

Nevertheless – or perhaps precisely because of this – the cattle drive at Wallberg is something special. It represents a living tradition and is, at the same time, a moment of gratitude: for a good summer on the alpine pastures, for the healthy animals, and for the fact that both people and animals have come through the summer well.

The cattle drive ends at around 11.30 am when the animals arrive in the valley.

Good to know:

  • The event takes place whatever the weather; there is no alternative date.
  • No registration is required, and there are no additional costs.

As always in the mountains, please ensure you have suitable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing.

Yodelling to listen to & join in with

11 October, 11.00 am, Kircherl

Yodelling on the Wallberg – a truly special experience!

On 11 October, the Wallbergbahn cordially invites you to join in the yodelling at the Kircherl at 11.00 am.

We are particularly delighted to once again welcome singing teacher and singer Antonia Kreppert as well as the experienced professional yodeller Klaus Altmann. Together, they’ll make the mountain ring out – and of course, you’re all warmly invited to join in too!

This October, we’re saying thank you for 75 years of cable car service. ❤️ And what could be better than letting this gratitude ring out across the mountains with a yodel together?

Whether you just want to listen or join in with the yodelling yourself – everyone is very welcome!

Good to know:

  • No booking is necessary – just pop along and join in!
  • We’ll be meeting at 11 am at the little church, so please allow time for both the cable car ride (approx. 15 mins) and the walk to the little church (approx. 10 mins) when planning your journey.
  • In the event of bad weather, the yodelling will likely take place in the restaurant. We’ll make a final decision on the venue on Friday, 9 October. Please check the website for updates.
  • There are no additional costs for the course

As always in the mountains: Please make sure you have suitable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing.
